Keeping two or more copies of email messages: one copy on the mail server, one in email software such as Outlook
|
Web Studio Seattle strongly suggests using email software such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Entourage, Apple's Mail or another software product to manage your email.
One common method of keeping a copy of email is to configure your email software to leave a copy of recent email mesages on the server (i.e., leave a copy of the last 7 days of email on the server).
All incoming email is downloaded from the mail server to your email software on your personal computer, leaving a copy of incoming messages received in the past X (7, for example) days on the mail server.
In addition, it is advised that you make a back-up of all files, including email, stored on your computer hard drive.
Please note: leaving too much mail on the server may cause your mailbox to fill, preventing new messages from being accepted. We suggest 5, 7 or 10 days of mail on the server, depending on the size of your server mailbox.
Just as with all computer files, email loss can occur. Web Studio Seattle is not responsible for lost email or for backing up your email.
Please see the Terms of Service document for additional information.
